ICT Protege GX integration with Stortech: automating access control for self-storage facilities

1. Connect

You enter your Protege GX controller credentials (URL, username, password, site ID). Stortech validates the connection live.

2. Discover

Stortech automatically discovers all the areas and access levels that already exist on your controller. Nothing to retype.

3. Map

Stortech proposes automatic mapping between your units and your Protege GX areas, based on naming. You confirm the obvious pairs in one click. If areas are missing for some units, Stortech can create them directly in Protege GX, without you needing to open the software.

At this point, your installation is complete. Everything else is automated.

Booking

Stortech creates the user in Protege GX, assigns them the right access level for their area, and grants them site access. No click in Protege GX required.

Move-out

The customer's access is removed automatically, with no delay. You'll never forget to disable a former tenant again.

Failed payment

After the grace period you configure, Stortech overlocks the unit by removing the customer's access in Protege GX. The event is recorded on the booking timeline, so you keep an exact record of when access was cut. As soon as the customer pays, access is restored automatically.

Unit transfer

Stortech updates the access to the new area and removes the old one, in a single operation.

The result: you can literally go weeks without opening the Protege GX application. Stortech handles it.

As soon as access is granted, your customer automatically receives an email with their personal PIN and the security guidelines. You have nothing to send by hand.

From a rental's detail page, you enable or cut a customer's access in a single click, and you can see their active PIN. Handy when you need to handle an exception by hand.

Stortech integrates with several access control systems used across the self-storage industry, including OpenTech, KISS, PDK and ICT Protege GX. Each integration is treated as its own product, with its own setup flow, its own sync logic, and its own operational guardrails.

For ICT Protege GX, that meant building much more than a simple API call:

• Missing-area creation directly from Stortech
• Full tenant lifecycle management (create, suspend, remove)

The idea behind it is simple: no matter which access control system you run, Stortech should speak it fluently. When a customer books online at 10 PM, they should be able to walk into their unit a few minutes later, without you lifting a finger.
